10.10.2014

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering providing a loan of up to €50 million to Kronospan FLLC Belarus, to finance the expansion of the production capacity of its operating plant at Smorgon in Grodno region of Belarus. The proposed expansion will involve increased demand for wood as raw materials for the plant.

A substantial part of that will consist of low grade roundwood, and the company will also seek to use saw dust and sawmill residues available from local wood processing plants. Kronospan FLLC is a wholly-owned Belarusian subsidiary of Kronospan Holdings East Limited, Cyprus. Kronospan manufactures wood-based panel products at 34 sites in 27 countries. The project is located in the industrial zone adjacent to the existing Kronospan’s particleboard production and MDF plants in Smorgon, north-west of Belarus
