US imports of wooden furniture remained strong. In October 2013 imports were 6% higher than in October 2012. China's shipments accounted for 49% of total US imports in October. Vietnam's import share recovered to 16%.

Within the last 3 years Russian plywood export stably grows.  Within January-September, 2013 Russia exported up to 5.7% more plywood in comparison with the same period of the previous year. Leadership in export of Russian plywood belongs to the USA.

Within January-October, 2013 Russian plywood export increased up to 6.4% in comparison with the same period of the previous year.  The average price was 573 USD/m3 which is 5% higher than in 2012 year

Within January-September, 2013 wooden panel import in Great Britain increased up to 5.2%. Plywood import decreased to 1.7%. Hardboard suppliers (except Germany, Belgium and Ireland) also showed significant increase is sales on Great Britain market

In November 2013 prices for wooden panels in Russia continued to cut down. Plywood prices decreased up to 4%. Prices for hardboards on contrary showed significant increase up to 5%

Within January-October, 2013 Russia exported up to 8.1% more plywood in comparison with the same period of the previous year

Within July-September 2013 plywood production in Finland decreased up to 10% in comparison with the same period of the previous year

International trade fair for wood products “Restructura” was held between the 21st and 24th of November 2013 in Torino, Italy.

Wooden furniture production in European Union countries decreased by 4% within 2012 year in comparison with the previous. Overall consumption is estimated to have fallen 4% in 2012 from euro 43.35 billion to euro 41.75 billion. The Eurostat furniture production index suggests that the downward trend in EU production has continued into 2013.
